Blood, Bones, and Butter

The book I chose to read is called "Blood, Bones, and Butter" written by Gabrielle Hamilton. She is the chef and owner of prune, a restaurant in New York. I chose this book because it had some great reviews and i thought it would be a good read.
This is a non-fiction novel about Gabrielle Hamilton and her life so far.
She talks about the town she grew up in, in Pennsylvania. When she was a kid her family would have the same party every year, where they roasted little lambs. She lived in a country town and her house was built on a ruined mill. She grew up on farmland and food had been around her since she was little. There was beautiful scenery around her house.
She was the youngest in her family and she had 4 siblings. Her french mother would cook them dinner every night. Her mother would cook really good dishes and she had a special kitchen too.
Did you grow up on the country?
Do you like your mother's food?

  1. Very good choice of book, Doug. I read the description of this book on Amazon and wanted to read it myself. The author seems to have had many fascinating experiences in Europe and Turkey before she started her own restaurant in New York. I'm interested in how chefs become inspired to go into that field. Usually, they seem to have been surrounded by good food when they were growing up and want to help others share in their joy of eating in convivial company.
